I'm Back — And This Time, It's About Us

Hey everyone, it's Jessica. I'm launching itsjessicabaird.com after a long pause from blogging. If you've been following for a while or if this is your first time stopping by, welcome. Truly. I'm so glad you're here.

Life has a way of pulling us in different directions, doesn't it? For me, the last few years have been full of big shifts. I've been deep in my role as Chief of Staff at Kairos Labs, where I help translate complex strategies into clear, trustworthy communication in a highly regulated space. It's challenging work that keeps me sharp and focused on doing things the right way: building alignment, protecting reputations, and making sure the messaging always lands with integrity.

At the same time, I've poured a lot of my heart into PS Society, the women-led nonprofit here in Michigan that's all about fighting the loneliness epidemic. As Director and Vice President, I help shape programs like our consistent gatherings, retreats, volunteering days, fundraising efforts, and personal and professional development sessions. We create real spaces for professional women. Women who are juggling careers, caregiving, leadership, and everything in between get to feel seen, supported, and connected. It's not fluffy stuff. It's grounded in the reality that so many of us (over 60 percent of women, according to the research) feel lonely even when life looks full on the outside. Being part of turning that around and helping build sisterhood and belonging one intentional interaction at a time has been one of the most meaningful things I've ever done.

And through it all, I've been navigating single motherhood. The beautiful, messy, everyday reality of raising my child while trying to show up fully for work, community, and myself has kept me busy. There have been seasons where blogging took a backseat because I was just trying to keep all the plates spinning without dropping any.

But that passion for sharing honestly never went away. It started years ago when I was in the beauty world full-time. I built Color Pins Curls, my private lash studio and blog, where I shared real talk about lash techniques, product breakdowns, and what actually works (no hype, just science-backed insights). That led to becoming Brand Ambassador Coach at NovaLash, mentoring under Sophy Merszei and helping shape how people thought about lashes and education in the industry. Blogging was my way of connecting with people who wanted the truth, not the sales pitch. It created a little community around real results and authenticity.

That same thread runs through everything I do now. Whether it's crafting strategic stories at work, building connection at PS Society, or figuring out life as a mom, it's all about showing up honestly and helping others feel less alone in their own journeys.

So I'm coming back to this space because I miss it. I miss writing about the beauty things that make me feel good (products, services, and favorites worth sharing), profiling inspiring women who've mentored me or crossed my path, and reflecting on the small wins and big lessons from motherhood, community-building, and everything in between. This isn't going to be a perfectly polished blog. It's going to be real, like a conversation over coffee with a friend who tells it straight.

The topics here, authentic beauty finds, stories of resilient women, and honest reflections on balancing ambition with real life, are for women all over the country. Whether you're in Michigan or anywhere else in the USA, if you're looking for thoughtful takes that feel relatable and grounded, I hope this space becomes a spot you return to.

If any of that resonates, stick around. Hit subscribe below so you don't miss the next post. I'll be sharing more regularly now, and I'd love to have you along for it.

What's one thing you're hoping to see more of here? Drop a comment. I read every single one, and it helps shape where we go next.

Thanks for being here. Let's keep building this little corner of connection.

In community we grow,

Jessica

P.S. I can't wait to see where this goes.
